How to assemble the Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars:
Once you have made the crust Press the dough evenly down into the lined pan. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown along the edges.
Set aside to cool and turn the oven down to 160°C.
Pour the chocolate pecan pie mixture over the warm crust and evenly spread using a spatula. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips and pecans on top.
Bake for 25-35 minutes or until it is firm and set around the edges but a little soft in the center. Allow to cool fully.
Refrigerate for 1 hour. Carefully remove from the pan, slice up into as many piece as you like and enjoy!
Baking Tips:
Don’t overbake the crust: Only bake the crust until the edges are golden brown, if you overbake the crust it may stick to the pan.
Don’t overbake the filling: Make sure to only bake the filling until the edges have puffed up nicely and firmed up, while the center will still be wobbly, as it will continue to cook gently as it cools down. If the center is completely stiff and solid, then it will likely overcook while it cools in the pan.
